Shijingshan District has already entered the aging society. Along with the aging trend as well the features of getting old, more empty nests and being disabled, the current and next generations are facing a big challenge of caring the aged. Among many attempts, there is no doubt that home care is most desirable for the aged. However, many reasons lead to the failure for the aged choosing this way. On the other hand, although institutional care for the elders is more professional, the resource and ability of the institution care is too inadequate to conquer this challenge.By analyzing the survey results and census data, and using literature research method, this article applies both quantitative and qualitative techniques to describe and analyze the current aging situation of Beijing Shijingshan District. Through comparison of institutional care, home care and community care, the author specifically analyzes the feasibility and advantages of community care, and offers suggestions of reinforcing the system construction of community care services to counteract the aging issue. Meanwhile, the author tries to propose more solutions through analysis of the problems occurred in developing and improving the community-based home care services. The author believes through comprehensive promotion for the model of community care, home care and institutional care would receive a beneficial supplement. The suggestions stated above will be helpful to cope with the aging challenge actively, positively and scientifically, to satisfy the elder’s increasing demand in better caring their lives, and to achieve the integrated, harmonious and sustainable development for the regional economics and society.
