Research On The Theory And Practice Of Xi Zhongxun’s United Front

The united front is a weapon for our party to conduct revolutions, constructions and reforms. Essentially, the united front is a special political work, a deep culture and a subject. The core of the united front is unity. Xi Zhongxun was an outstanding proletarian revolutionist in previous years, one of the Chinese Communist Party leaders, one of the main founders of the Shaanxi-Gansu border revolution. He was also a pioneer of reform and opening -up policy in Guangdong. Xi had devoted himself to the united front work and made great contributions for our party, when it was in the period of the new-democratic revolution, the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the reform and opening to the outside world.During the period of the new-democratic revolution, Xi was mainly engaged in the Shaanxi-Gansu border region revolution and construction. He insisted the basic viewpoint of Marxism, inherited and carried forward the united front policy of Mao Zedong, sought for truth from facts, adhered to follow the mainly line. His united front theory and practice mainly concentrated on the border area of democratic regime construction, land reform movement and so on.In the beginning of the founding of our country, Zhou Enlai raised the slogan of "the people’s democratic united front", meaning that the work of the united front concentrated on uniting all the forces that could be united. Then, Xi Zhongxun headed liberation work in the northwest, and his united front theory and practice focused on repression of rebellions, religion issues and bandits, as well as the unity of intellectuals.In 1978, Xi was rehabilitated because of the novel "Liu Zhidan". Subsequently, he was transferred to Guangdong to preside over the work. After more than two years, he was transferred to Beijing office in the name of the center committee. In this period he conscientiously implemented the patriotic united front policy raised by Deng Xiaoping. With the faith of freeing mind and the principle of seeking truth from facts, he proposed to adhere to the principle of comprehensive cooperation, full cooperation; As to foreign work, he put forward that the united front work should be conducted in all corners of the country and include all sorts of peopleXi Zhongxun’s united front theory originated from the study of Marx’s theory, as well as the development of Mao Zedong’s thought. His practice was derived from his work experience in different historical periods. Interpreting Xi Zhongxun’s united front theory and practice with historical materialism is meaningful for our present unity work.
