| With the rapid development and popularization of new communication technologies represented by Internet technology and digital media technology, the ordinary people gradually shared the right of communication which was held in the hands of the elite in the past, since the network provides equal and open space for multiple meaning, sound, discussion and debate. In recent years, various types of public events have happened frequently, during which the Internet played the role of a catalyst as public events often lead to massive network operations after entering the network communication channels. Through expression and action online and offline, the majority of Internet users become an important force to intervene in social reality and promote social progress thus they complete their empowering practice. However, due to the complexity of the network environment, the special nature of public events and the diverse and heterogeneous empowering body, some of the reasonable demands may be present before the public also in the form of antagonistic group events or extreme activists, which causes adverse effects on the society and public. Therefore, under the background of the Internet era, stimulated by the reality of China’s political society, to research the empowerment phenomenon of network public events, identify the pros and cons, and explore rational way of empowering is extremely important for the construction of political civilization, which is also where the emphasis of this paper lies.Based on the empowerment theory and communication theory, this paper is going to explore the origin of empowerment theory, public event and the relationship between empowerment and communication with the application of literature analysis. Besides, with the method of comparative research and case analysis, the author is trying to analyze the difference between the empowerment of network public events and traditional empowerment, its present situation and the existing problems. It comes to the conclusion that Internet public events have new features in the aspects of disseminator, content, communication power. The empowerment practices is of great significance to promote the social and public environment construction, but it followed by the dilemma of modernity we can’t ignore, such as the ensuing network rumors, alienation of empowerment action and the network crisis of anarchy. Through the analysis, the author put forward solutions at the end of the paper, such as to improve the main body’s quality and the public spreading awareness of the whole society, to give full scope to individuals and organizations and to perfect the government’s legislative recommendations. However, since changes in Age of the Internet occur at any time, deeper problems remains to be discovered, how the empowerment in the future can practice under a good environment and thorough system also needs to be further explored. Only in this way, can the stability, harmony and development of the entire society be boosted. |
