China, followed by its increasing development from economics to culture, as well as growing internationalization trend has recently held a series of successful international sports event, like the Beijing Olympics(2008), Guangzhou Asian Games(2010) and Shenzhen Universiade (2011). Along with these events, volunteers, providing their professional thoughtful and passionate serves, play a very important role through the whole preparation and operation progresses.In 10th February 2010, the Olympic Committee nominates Nanjing as the host of the second Youth Olympic Games, a sports festival intending to gather gifted young athletes all around the world in a well organized competition.This article intends to analyze the preparations of the Second Youth Olympic Games and the Second Asian Youth Games, by applying theories of project management, especially the management of the organization of volunteers for sports event. We emphasize the detailed method for volunteers management on its recruit, training, and participation. We also explore the incentive and maneuver mechanism of volunteer operations, which leads us to a complete project management system. By realizing this system into daily work of the preparation of the above two sports event, we further discuss the pros and cons of this system.
