Study On Parking Management In Wujiang District Of Suzhou City

With the further enhancement of its economy and people living standards in Wujiang District, vehicle ownership will reach its new peak and bring about more severe parking insufficiency in the near future. Its main urban area in Wujiang District covers 11 square kilometers, east of Suzhou He Road, south of Jiangling Road, west of the Grand canal and north of East Taihu Road. In a similar way, Wujiang urban area faces new challenges in parking management like other developed urban areas, such as supply and demand contradiction of parking space, unreasonable distribution and underutilization. The main causes can be attributed to lagging system design, low management of planning and design, outdated management methods, low management level and weak law awareness of pedestrians and consumers. It’s time to face up to many problems in parking management. First, the legislation should be strengthened to guarantee parking management from system design; second, city planning and design, especially traffic planning, should be optimized to lay a solid foundation for follow-up management, taking full account of the real needs and demands; third, the advanced concepts and technology home and abroad should be brought in to improve parking space facilities utilization according to the status quo in Wujiang urban area; meanwhile law publicity and enforcement should be reinforced to raise pedestrian legal awareness. Only in this way the parking management level can be enhanced to solve the parking problems and create an unblocked and ordered environment.
