| With the rapid aging process, China has entered the aging society. The mental health problems of the elderly are been paid more and more attention by the society. Especially when the old man enter old age, because of the decrease of body function, there will be a variety of diseases which will affect the mood of the elderly. These negative emotions will affect the health of the elderly in turn. The elderly social work which services specifically for the elderly is of great significance to improve the mood of the elderly. In this paper, the author took the advantage of internship in Chongqing’s third social welfare Institute and learned the emotional state of the elderly,then intended to intervene by the elderly casework. First of all, the author investigated the basic situation and emotional state of the elderly in Chongqing’s third social welfare Institute and pointed out the Performance of the negative emotion. Then the author analyzed the impact that may exist of negative emotions for the elderly. Secondly, the paper describes the meaning of rational emotive therapy, characteristics, use the steps and methods in detail. Again, as the focus of this article, the author focuses on the process of the application of rational emotive therapy in elderly case Social Work. This section, the author takes a specific case in Chongqing’s third social welfare Institute and discusses the application of rational emotive therapy comprehensively. In the sixth part of this article, the author summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of rational emotive therapy in elderly case social work and gives suggestions for the disadvantages. This paper will give some proposals for Chongqing’s third social welfare Institute and help more employees in welfare Institute understand the charm of social work, then work together to promote the elderly social work’s development through a comprehensive analysis of rational emotive therapy in elderly case Social Work. |
