Research On The Developmental Mental Health Education Of National Defense Students

The original purpose of the training system of the national defense students is to utilize the excellent teaching resources of local colleges to cultivate new military talents for the troops, and at the same time repeal the military schools with the same or similar curriculum as local colleges. It can be put like that national defense student is the future of the army and will play a role of mainstay in modern military construction. While in recent years, some colleges have decided to diminish or stop the recruitment of national defense students due to the unpopular cases after the national defense students enter the troops. The purpose of the developmental psychological health education for the national defense student is to properly settle their psychological conflicts at all stages from college study to military positions, in combination with the main characteristics of their physical and mental development, to improve their comprehensive psychological quality, get them to better understand themselves and meet the military demands, promote the development of their personality and potential and finally help them successfully finish the task of psychological development. At present, the domestic research on developmental psychological health education remains at the initial stage with few valuable research results.The thesis, with the developmental psychological health education for national defense students as the research targets, has made the research after summarizing the current research results at home and abroad by comprehensively using literature research method, experience summary method, comparative research method and interview. At present, the psychological quality of the national defense student can be reflected by the following: lack of mental preparation for dedication for national defense cause, lack of internal impetus for making military merits, lack of executive force to obey the rules, lack of psychological adaptability to the environment, and lack of curious spirit. And the problems in current psychological health education for current national defense students can be listed as imperfect psychological evaluation mechanism and single psychological health education channel. The research holds that the developmental psychological health education for national defense students shall be conducted by setting correct consciousness and internalizing the military spirit; developing their daily character and shaping their military quality, forging their military will by experiencing hardship and harsh environment; developing their self-consciousness and improving their adaptability; and realizing their potential and strengthening their military soft power. It has also proposed a feasible education strategy starting from the three aspects—building the developmental psychological health evaluation mode, creating the developmental psychological health education environment, improving the developmental psychological health training method. if an army lacks power inside and only reply on the strength outside, it can never fulfill their historical mission, no matter how powerful the external strength is. It is hoped that the thesis can offer any useful suggestions or reference for the education of national defense student and modern military construction.
