National sovereignty is the foundation of the existence of a nation, and the principle of national sovereignty is an important principle in the international law and the international relations. But the theory of sovereignty is the production of a certain phase of the human history which is always changing and developing with the change of the international economy and politics. With the globalization wave springing up, the traditional sovereignty theory is being strongly challenged. If we look further, we can find that as the one who is in a relatively passive stance in the process of economic globalization, it’s necessary to adjust their position on sovereignty for developing countries. This paper argues that the developing countries should build a new concept of sovereignty which is of "not only firm but also flexible". On the one hand, they have to adhere to the principle of national sovereignty, grasp the "firm" side; on the other hand, they also need to do more discussing and investigation on the issue of the sovereignty demisability, to bring some "flexibility" in the particular the exercise of sovereignty. The principle of national sovereignty and the issue of sovereignty demisability from the perspective of developing countries were discussed in this paper, basically followed the way of "problems-analysis-settlement", and mainly through the historical and comparative research methods. The first chapter reviewed the emergence and development of the national sovereignty and the principle of national sovereignty, reflecting the variability characteristics of the national sovereignty which is always ready to adapt to the developing requirements of the times, as well as the practicality characteristics which is always ready to serve the national interest.Chapter two investigated the challenges national sovereignty faces on the background of economic globalization, from the practical and theoretical aspects respectively. In the objective challenge level, the challenges of different sources were analyzed from the objectives of the economic globalization erosion and the conscious erosion from developed countries. In the theory challenge level, traditional anti-national sovereignty theories and anti-national sovereignty theories on the economic globalization era were summarized and discussed in succession. Also the hypocrisy and hegemonic nature of these theories were analyzed next, pointing out that the anti-national sovereignty can not replace national sovereignty theory inevitability.Chapter III argued that it is necessary for the developing countries who are living in an unbalanced pattern of international political and economic reality to take the initiative to adjust their sovereign position through analyzing the different positions of sovereignty of the developed and developing countries. Then the reasonable path of adjustment for developing countries was analyzed and the "not only firm but also flexible" concept of sovereignty was argued. The fourth chapter focuses on the "flexible" side of the concept of sovereignty. Firstly expounded the necessity and inevitability of sovereignty demisability, secondly demonstrated the superiority of multi-factor said, finally prompted some misunderstandings associated with sovereignty demisability, pointing out that the bottom line of sovereignty demisability is still a good grasp on the international principle of sovereignty.
