As the first African-American President in US history, Mr Obama’s campaignsuccess made him the world’s most dazzling star, his "smart power" diplomacy marksthe relations to start a new journey. How to shape the Obama, not only to a certainextent affect the our country the public impression of him, but also hints at China’s mediaand even the Chinese government’s attitude toward the United States, and thus worthy ofattention.The author choose the People’s Daily and southern weekend as the research objectof this article, with two quote about Obama’s news as investigation sample, according tothe theory framework of two in Mr Obama’s news content analysis and discourse analysis,involving the pages, length, type, theme, attitudes and other basic statistics, and twoquote for Obama character image analysis, the framework of including its administrativeability, political wisdom and foresight, political philosophy, diplomatic ability, eloquentexpression characters such as content. Through comparative analysis, tries to discuss twoquote for Obama’s differences in the shaping of image.The study found that from the number reported, attach more importance to People’sDaily, the southern weekend news reports of Mr Obama. Space, the People’s Daily isgiven priority to with concise short message, southern weekend is given priority to within-depth reports and comments; More sources, the People’s Daily is a reporter in Americasince the news, the southern weekend is more a guest experts and scholars writing;Reports on the theme, both to report on "domestic politics" subject; On to Obama’s image,two there is a certain difference, the overall is neutral, the south is a positive attitude.
