Since1984, the central government formally issued document that allowed farmers workin the city, and then lead the first wave of worker tide. And then China’s first generation"migrant workers" were born; issues of migrant workers have gradually attracted widespreadattention from all sectors of government and society. Today, a large number of the "newgeneration of migrant workers’ who were born after1980and1990, now, access to the city towork and instead of the traditional migrant workers have become a new force of China’smodernization. However, with the rapid development of urbanization, the new generation ofmigrant workers on the social situation itself has put forward higher requirements in terms ofprofessional skills, cultural awareness, adaptability, etc. Currently, the new generation ofmigrant workers facing a series of problems in the process of production and lives into thecity, that involved work pressure, poor employment, low wages, low social security, lack ofhappiness. The role of education, although, not completely solve the problems that thegeneration of migrant workers facing in the process into the city, but it is reasonable tocircumvent or a long-term way of mitigate for these problems. Numerous facts have proven,the new generation of migrant workers themselves have a profound understanding of theimportance of education, and produce more intense education demands.In this study, based on the above background and rationale, the research object is theeducation demands problem of the "new generation of migrant workers’ whose age is betweenthe age of16and28, mainly with agricultural household registration and work with nonfarmin offsite. Firstly, through literature review and the actual investigation, to investigate thecharacteristics of their educational demands which including the purpose of education, choiceof educational institutions, specifically the way of education, attitude towards education, etc.and investigated the internal and external factors which hindered their educational demands.Secondly, from the new generation of migrant workers themselves and the governmentlatitude analyze the feasibility of the two factors to achieve their educational needs. Finally,on basis of the grasp of the demand characteristics of the new generation of migrant workersand the factors which hindered their realization of educational demands, we recommend that the government’s public policy, education and training duties of the employer, as well asvocational schools, colleges and universities, academic education and adult continuingeducation reform and other aspects combine to proposed stimulate incentives and set upinstitutional environment are effective ways to meet the educational demands of the newgeneration of migrant workers.
