With the rapid development of economy in China, carrying out farmers’concentrated living is a strategic measure to balance urban and ruraldevelopment and speed up the pace of their integration. Nowadays, it is nolonger an individual phenomenon for farmers to have concentrated livingafter the requisition of their lands in the development of urban and ruralintegration. A Large quantity of them pour into the cities to make theirlivelihoods by getting non-agricultural jobs.With the change of living and production style, those migrant farmers havebecome citizens in city and are no longer the farmers in conventional sense.In the face of the new living and cultural environment, to realize thetransition from farmer to citizen, land-lost farmers need to not only makesuch transitions as production mode, life-style and living pattern, but also beused to the process of cultural adaptation. The Author conducted an in-depthinterview with land-lost farmers of Xinglong village to understand theirliving condition, obtained a large number of firsthand data, and concludedthe content of acculturation by adopting field survey method of culturalanthropology. The present thesis analyzes the main factors influencing theacculturation of the land-losing farmers from culture anthropology by theinvestigation of land-lost farmers from Xinglong Village of Liaohe Town inTongliao City.The thesis consists of5parts. Part One introduces the purpose and significance of studying land-lost farmers’ acculturation, the currentresearch situation of immigrant acculturation, and the place and researchmethods the study employed.Chapter One is the concept of land-lost farmers and general situation ofland-lost farmers in Xinglong Village. It mainly introduces the concepts ofland-lost farmers and centralized living of land-lost farmers, the basicinformation of investigative place, Xinglong Village and general situation ofland-lost farmers in Xinglong Village.Chapter Two is about the adaptive situation of suburban land-lostfarmers’ concentration living, which is described from four aspects: financialsituation, mode of life, interpersonal communication and sense of identity,based on the data collected from fieldwork survey. Among these aspects,they include both fully adaptable side and inacceptable side.Chapter Three analyzes the current acculturated situation of ourcountry’s land-lost farmers. The main content of acculturation aboutland-lost farmers’ concentration living is generalized on the basis of thedescriptions of their current condition and is divided into5aspects,including non-agricultural production mode, communal living mode,modernistic life mode, citizenization identity and transitional culturalidentity. Besides, it analyzes the main factors affecting the acculturation ofthe land-losing farmers as well.The final chapter summarize the whole thesis and points out the limitations. Acculturation of lost-land farmers is a long-term systematicproject with positive development tendency at present. The land-lost farmersshow a good adaptability and positive attitude towards life in the process ofacculturation, though it still can’t be completely adapted.
