Along with the prosperity of the film industry, film censorship becomes controversial, which is closely related to the development and progress of movies. Although the community’s view for Chinese film censorship varies, there is no denying that the reform of film censorship has lagged far behind, relative to the progress and development of the film industry. We could learn more lessons for the future film censorship development, through the summary and review.Secondly, discuss the film censorship from the perspective of law, mainly focused on the Constitution and administrative laws.Thirdly, analyze the limitations of current film censorship. This part summarizes three main issues from the points of the censor subject, censor criteria and censor procedures.Fourthly, study the foreign film censorship. Existing censorship could be divided into three categories:regulatory censor mode; laissez-faire mode; transitional censor mode.Fifth, focus on the reform of censorship. There are two basic ideas:improving existing film censorship; introducing film classification system. There is a long way ahead in the development of Chinese film censorship. We shouldn’t refuse to make progress or be too radical. We need to consider the actual conditions, combine the existing censorship and gradually introduced film classification system while optimizing their advantages, in order to escorting the development of Chinese film industry.
