Practice Report Of Simulated Consecutive Interpreting-A Speech By Ombama At Fudan University

This practice report is based on the simulated consecutive interpreting—a speech by Ombama at Fudan University. The simulated consecutive interpreting is choosed as a case, and to analyse the recording material and the problems in the interpreting. This speech is made by Barack Obama in November 2009 at Fudan University in Shanghai. This is the first time for Obama to come to China since he was elected president of the United States. The speech mainly about the talk between Obama and China Youth, and reviews the history of Sino US relations, analyzes the present situation in the United States, and the prospect of the future development of relations between the two countries. The speech is English political speech. Obama is good at public speaking, his speech is logical, of moderate speed, speech words are close to the mass. Therefore, the anthor select the speech as a practice material. This report is divided into five parts: task description, preparation before translation, interpretive theory overview, case analysis and summary. Task description is to introduce the content of the translation; preparation before translation is described start of the translation work, the preparatory activities for the translation practice, which includes background knowledge,vocabulary preparation and so on.The core part of this practice report is the case analysis. In this chapter, use interpretive theory as guidance for interpretation, and list examples of using translation techniques in the process of translation practice. In the chapter of translation problems, mainly list problems of Listening Comprehension Barriers, notes and the expression. The last part is summary of the practice, in this part, the author mainly think over the problems and summarize the method to this problems. Through the practice, the author can further enhance the level of interpretation, and provide better experience for the future interpretation, also hope this report can help other interpreters.
