A Practice Report On The Translation Of "Heating, Ventilation And Conditioning"

The Russian building code of ―Heating, ventilation and conditioning‖ is formulated and promulgated by the State Committee for Construction in the Soviet Union. This code is applicable to the design for heating, ventilation and air conditioning of constructed, renovated and extended civil and industrial buildings.This practice report consists of four parts. The first part of the report briefly states the translation project and main research contents. The second part is the preparation for the interpretation of the project, which places extra emphasis on the lexical and syntactic features of the text. The third part is the major section, which takes the translation project of ―Heating, ventilation and conditioning‖ as the example to study the problems in the Russian-Chinese translation process, and demonstrates the translation strategies with specific examples. The fourth part summarizes the findings of the translation practice, and discusses the inadequacies of the research as well as the significance of the translation process.Through analyzing and summarizing of translation method, such as the amplification and omission of words, the diversion and conversion of sentence types, and division and combination of sentence in the translation project ―Heating, ventilation and conditioning‖, the report can provide reference for other related translation practices.
