Research On The Emotional Visualization Design Of The Book Of Songs And Its Evaluation Oriented To Cognitive Efficiency

The Book of Songs, an important component of the rites and music system in Dynasty of Zhou, is the first literal masterpiece written in Chinese characters. Poetry can convey emotion and ambitions, and The Book of Songs specifically, spread the idea of rites and music relying on emotion. However, the feelings in The Book of Songs possess specific cultural context, moreover, the times are so distant and the words themselves are too absurd to understand. Therefore, people at the present times find if difficult to understanding its feelings. But the information visualization technology can present the emotional information in The Book of Songs, improve the cognitive efficiency of the contemporary people towards its emotional content, and arouse people’s interests and passion about traditional culture. In this way, this technology can endow this Chinese treasure with new vitality.Emotional information in The Book of Songs can be qualitatively and quantitatively researched. 305 poems have the corresponding features of epic, politics,geography and context. The manual marking method can be used to quantitatively extract the emotional data, and the visualization technology is able to convert the abstract emotional content in The Book of Songs into something perceptible, and thus improve the cognitive efficiency.The emotional visualization design of The Book of Songs oriented to cognitive efficiency analyzes and extracts emotional information from the works according to the emotional classification and the specific cultural context. The emotional information in The Book of Songs is presented by Sankey Diagram, Theme River and map label. In this way, the screening and selection of the emotional data based on users’ perspective, and the visualized interactive design of the shifting and zooming of the visualized interface.The comparative experiment is employed to evaluate whether this design contributes to people’s improvement in their cognitive efficiency from the time needed to accomplish the task, and the accuracy. In addition, heuristic evaluation is used to analyze whether its interaction and interface availability is desirable from the aspects of visual performance and interactive mechanism. Then we find out the problem and propose the amelioration plan.To sum up, the emotional visualization design of The Book of Songs from the perspective of cognitive efficiency, aiming at improving people’s cognitive efficiency about emotional content in this literary work, is a brand new method to present its emotional content, as well as a new path to spread the excellent traditional cultural classics under the digital media environment.
