National image is a comprehensive performance to national dignity, state prestige and the international competition, which also is th e core of the soft pow er.In the process of globalization, as an important m ember of th e five central Asian cou ntries, Kazakhstan plays a very important role in such aspects as:border’s stability, regional trade, cultural exchange.Kazakhstan is a landlocked count ry in central Asia, which bor ders three of central Asia countries, Russian and China. Kazakhstanis located on famous ancient "silk road", and has a long historic contactswith China.Since the Kazakhstan’s establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have been developing smoothly with high-level visits and continuously deepening pragmatic cooperation in all areas. The establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries became a landmark event in the history of bilateral relations.Kazakhstan plays an important rolein China’s central Asia strategy and takes an important strategic geographical position.Bilateral relations between China and central Asia countries have a strategic im pact on bilateral ener gy cooperation,counter-terrorism, security cooperation, economic and transportation cooper ation. Central Asia countries have great significance to China’ s development. In 2013 the Chinese governm ent put forward: the strategy ofinnovation cooperati on mode to construct econo mic belt "silk road" with peaceful development.In such a b ackground, only by understanding the China’s national image in Kazakhstan mainstream net media is "hostility" or "friendly", "strong" or "weak", it is in order to deepen friendship between two countries and continue to strengthen mutual trust and m utually benefits. It a lso has far-reaching consequences to culture exchanges and cooperation in all areas between China and central Asia.From the perspective of system ic functional linguistics, this study used the analysis method of appraisal theory to explore the China’s national image. On lexical level, analysis is about what is China’ s national image in Kazakhstan’s mainstream network media look likeand how it is presented.The research resu ltshows that the China’ s national image in Kazakhstan mainstream net media is negative mostlywithin social issues. The rapider using linguistic devices in mainstream network media are adverbs, and adjectives are the next to build China’s national image.
