There were many distinguished African-American leaders in African-American Civil Rights Movement, who were known well by the public, such as Frederick Douglass, William Edward Burghardt Du Bois and Martin Luther King. Booker T.Washington, the famous American Black leader between late 19 th century and 20 th century, received relatively little attention, whose contribution to African-American Civil Rights can’t be ignored.This paper has summarized the Booker T. Washington’s thought and efforts for the African-American Civil Rights movement from the viewpoints of politics, economy,culture.Under the influence of the south reconstruction, Booker T. Washington advised to develop material basis first of all.Namely, African-American should develop industry education and economic instead of actively involving in political campaigns.However the theoretical routine was criticized by African-American leader especially Du Bois,there were differences in terms of economy and education.Booker T. Washington believed the theoretical routine designed for African-American was conducive to change their situation, so he in public avoid talking about politics, replaced with the subject of education and economy.His speech around the theme of the African-American’s education and the economy;he founded the Tuskegee Institute to develop industry education, and to expand industry education actively in order to help African-American’s education;he also established the National Black Business League to promote the development of African-American.Various African-American leaders had different thought and theoretical routine in different historical periods, both radical and conservative, they all promote the development of the African-American Civil Rights movement.In the critical period,Booker T. Washington had made outstanding contributions.
