Booker T. Washington is a prominent black leader in the history of African-American movement in the late 19th early 20th century.He Proposed that Blacks must abandon the pursuit of political rights temporarily, save themselves as the core, prosper Black economy,develop Black industrial education, to achieve racial integration.He asked the black race to get the American citizen's rights through hard labor, thrift way of life, pragmatic work attitude and Christian Personality.He practiced personally, founded Tuskegee Institute in extremely difficult circumstances and went to publicize his views of Black struggle.His political thought Played an important impact on African-American campaign after redevelopment.In the late 19th and early 20th century in American , the race relations were very bad, lynching of blacks everywhere, white supremacist in power,the Black's struggle were very complex. In such a unique historical environment, Booker T. Washington did not take the traditional line of political struggle, to do exactly the opposite,he called the black race abandon the pursuit of political rights and social equality temporarily, avoid the bloody struggle, commit to black economic development, improve the moral quality of their own, develop black industrial education. Booker T. Washington 's political compromise is not a long-term or permanent concession, but rather a progressive political line. He believes that black is still in the stage of nothing, the fight for political rights is futile and meaningless. Once black people have the knowledge, property and moral qualities,they would be get the political rights naturally. This is an expedient in the special historical period,and history has proved to be practical and effective. Booker T. Washington 's political thought adapted to the needs of the Black at the time,and also adapted to the needs of the South Caucasian.He helped the black to win their own economic development, enhance themselves.At the same time,he won the support of White enlightened gentry,partly eased the ethnic conflicts at the time.By dropping slick liberal arts education, developing industrial education vigorously, Booker T. Washington not only improved the professional skills of black, but also cultivated their good moral character to get ready for the future of political rights. Booker T. Washington's political thought Played an important impact on African-American sports. Studying the historical background of his political thought and the basic elements ,analysing its influence on African-American Sports, black self-development, black political, economic, educational and other implications, have great significance to grasp of the whole African-American sports and explore the black way.
