| Since the 1990 s, Korean TV drama and other Korean cultural products together constitute a spectacular cultural phenomenon, namely "Korean wave". As a leader in the Korean TV drama, Korean idol drama has become one of the popular ways of entertainment, with its magnificent scenes, gorgeous costume, handsome and beautiful characters, unique narrative language and best audiovisual effects This thesis attempts to explore the internal development mechanism and operational structure of the Korean idol drama from perspectives of creative thinking, works constitution, transmission modes and operating methods. Theories of narratology, New Criticism and cultural studies construct the theoretical frame for this thesis. The purpose of such an exploration is offering a new possible perspective in researching Korean drama.The thesis consists of an introduction and four chapters. The introducing part covers research objectives, research significance and research methods. The first chapter deals with themes of the Korean idol drama from perspectives of the theme of love, female point of view and mainstream value. The second chapter analyzes narrative strategies of Korean idol drama, mainly including analyses of narrative point of view, narrative mode, and narrative structure. Narrative means of Korean idol drama is the focus of the third chapter. Narrative methods are interpreted from perspectives of set design, the character modeling, editing method, photographic method and so on. By adopting cultural and aesthetic analysis methods, the fourth chapter aims to sum up creative experience of Korean idol drama and explore how Korean idol drama inspires the development of Chinese TV drama. The last chapter also focuses on the analysis of how Korean-style drama is formed and what characteristics it has, through introducing the present daily aesthetic, tracing back to the Korean local culture and comparing Korean idol drama with Japanese idol drama. Conclusion consists of two parts, one is the Korean idol drama production experience summary; the other one is to put forward effective proposals from the reality of our idol drama production, such as the choice of conception themes, personnel training, investment and other aspects of play. |
