When the space has experienced a lot of fate into Marxist theory, the space becomes a non-missing dimension. In most Marx’s works, we can find out lots of discussion of space. David Harvey combined geography knowledge with these about the space of a new interpretation. In order to sort clearly Harvey’s space theory out, the paper elaborates Harvey’s space theory with ideological source and theoretical system. The paper highlights that Harvey gives new meaning to space issues in order to better understand Harvey’s spatial thinking, and get inspiration.Specifically, the paper is divided into four parts. The first part reviews the study of David Harvey’s space theory at home and abroad. The first chapter is written from three aspects, and it includes the relationship between Harvey’s theory and Marxist theory, the transformation of Harvey’s space theory and scholars comment on Harvey’s thought. On the study methods, the paper grasps the essence of Harvey’s space theory with the interpretation of the text and the unity of history and logic. Finally, the significance of this writing is clear. The second part describes the origin of the idea of Harvey’s space and reveals the profound influence of Harvey’s space theory from Western Philosophy, Marxist Theory and Western Marxist Theory. It also analyzes that they have an important position in Harvey’s space theory simultaneously. The Traditional metaphysics space, Marxist practical space and the capital of social space, these are Harvey’s dialectical utopian idea of the foundation. The third part introduces the basic ideas and main contents of Harvey’s space theory. Harvey envisages space theory though critique of contemporary capitalist globalization space, capitalist urban space problems and postmodern space problems. The unequal geographical development leads to an imbalance of the production of space and results in capital accumulation crisis. Capitalism space is destroyed with a vicious cycle that repairing- damaging- then repairing, the workers are always suffer exploitation and oppression, so Harvey put forward his space theory to reach the ultimate goal of human liberation by "dialectical Utopia". This reflects tenacious efforts of Harvey between theory and reality. This leads us to deeply ponder the contemporary capitalist society. The fourth part elaborates achievements, shortage and theoretical significance of Harvey’s spatial thinking. That Harvey put emphasis on the study of the space has theoretical value of the development of Marxism in the era of globalization today.
