The Study Of Several Issues On Kangxi Emperor’s Personal Expedition Against Galdan

The Kangxi Emperor launched a military stalemate nearly eight years of war against the chief of Tsungar named Galdan in 1690 s. The war used to be called “Emperor Kangxi’s personal expedition against Galdan”. Emperor Kangxi’s expedition activities has an important position in the political and military history of ancient China. The research has been relatively abundant, but there are still many issues to be resolved, so there is a need for further inquiry.This article focus on the macro subject as emperor Kangxi’s personal expedition against Galdan,and several small issues will be selected from the subject to explore.There are three parts in this paper:The first one, there are two fundamental questions about the Kangxi Emperor’s expedition, a clear definition of its connotation of the expedition, a analysis of the expedition’s external background and internal motivation.The second, explore the establishment and development of the two major military systems of Qing regime-Eight Banners and Green Standard, examine their role in the expedition, and make a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the commander’s appointment during Kangxi’s expedition.The third,have a grasp comprehensively stand on the global of the expedition as a historical event and make a further understanding about the actual effect and historical impact and significance of the expedition.According to the article, the definition of Kangxi Emperor’s expedition activities should not be limited to specific times of military action, and it should be treated as a whole. The expedition’s external background and internal motivation is multifaceted, under the combined effect of multiple factors and backgrounds,it contributed to the Kangxi Emperor’s personal expedition against Galdan.Eight Banners and Green Standard troops as the two basic military pillars of the Qing and played an important role in their respective. They created a Qing victory in this war together. The choice of the military commanders from Kangxi Emperor present with many features in common, to some extent, a reflection of his military and political ideology. The practical effect of Kangxi’s expedition is various, including its military and for national stability, touring places,etc. Similarly, the Kangxi’s expedition has multiple historical impact and significance.
