A Report On The Translation Of The Bibliographie

This is a translation report, which focuses on the Bibliographie written by a Czech sinologist Timoteus Pokora. The source text are comments on Burton Waston’s translations of the Records of the Grand Historian of China. The text was included in the Chinese series of the representative works listed by the UNFO.This report makes Skopostheorie as the translation guide and chooses the responding translations methods and strategies to deal with the translation problems. According to the characteristics of the original, I choose both literal and free translation to fulfill the target audience’s demand.This report contains four chapters, the first one briefly introduces the translation background. The second one analyzes the source text, points out the important and difficult points and translation methods. The third one shows the translations problems and approaches. The last one makes a summary of the translation report and puts forward some enlightenment and outlook of the future translation study and work.
