This is a report of my own translation from English to Chinese. The source text is the fourth chapter(Beaten Tracks) of Yunnan: China South of the Clouds authored by Jim Goodman. This chapter mainly depicts six places in Yunnan Province, i.e. Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Dali, Lijiang, Baoshan and Dehong. The author focuses on the description of tourist attractions and minority cultures.Firstly, the translation task and the source text are introduced. Then, based on functional equivalence theory, aiming at difficulties encountered in translating, the translation strategy and methods are illustrated. After that, the translation strategy and methods are demonstrated in detail by case studies. Finally, a summary is made on the whole translation report, including what the translator learnt and the difficulties to be solved. The translation is guided by functional equivalence theory, and the translator tries to reach equivalence on the relationship between the translated text and the receptor and the original text and the original receptor.
