Xiaoyuan Shihua is a comprehensive poetry work in the late Qing Dynasty. The studyon poetics theory not only fills up the theory blank in remote districts, but also helps studythe development of Chinese poetic criticism.This paper is composed of four chapters.Chapter one analyzes the thought of “bian”.From an evolutionary point of view, it also discusses the relation between “bian” andhuman, the rise and fall of theory. In particular, the thought of “bian” falls into the categoryof “ZhengBian”. Chapter two mainly dispute the law of poetry, focusing on whether thereare certain rules governing poems writing and the question of self and selfless.Chapter three will target at poets, generalizing the concept of “jiashu”, trying to figure outthe standard of “dajia”, analyzing “jiliyangqi”. Comprehension,innovation and beyondtimes are the most important standards. Chapter four introduces aesthetic trend, whichmainly express the tradition of confucianists gentle and kind poetry and emotionalambition.
