In this paper, it analysis the view of life- death between Chuangzi and Epicurus.The inheritance and improvement for the Taoist theory of Lao-tze, and the hostile historical and social environment and the unique romantic temperament have a significant impact on the emerging and formation of Chuangzi’s life-death view. And the rational spirit in ancient Greek philosophy, to the critical the criticism and inheritance for Democritus’ atomic theory, which have a great influence on the formation of Epicurus’ life-death view. By comparison the original source between Chuangzi and Epicurus’life-death view, their theory reveals that the life and death philosophy is the cognition and beyond of historical reality, to the personal ultimate concern is the philosophy of life. Chuangzi thought life and death is the natural explanation for Taoism. But Epicurus thought life and death are atomic aggregation and separation. Ought to be squints towards the Taoism static state and to be tend to dynamic state. Introverted reflection intuitionism of socialist and extroverted sensationalism together to reveal that to cognitive the truth of universal life is the nature of life, and makes the life from the inside and outside, understanding and fusion of argumentation unity at the beginning of life. Life is perfectly unified with dynamic and static, ought to be and to be. Chuang zi’s life theory is essentially a moral life. Transcending the reality and pursuing the spiritual world, the core is inaction, nature, leisure, all things equality of perfect life without mark. Epicurus thinks that the emergence of life is decided by the atom, the run-over of life will be returned to the atom, the process of its rise and fall are part of the natural, objective existence, which is a kind of essence of natural life. Chuang zi’s moral life and Epicurus rational life are complementary. Chuangzi’s emphasizes that following universal rules and practicing his will, Epicurus pursuits hedonism. The former emphasizes the spirit of life, the latter pays attention to the reality of life care, and both of them pay attention to cherish and pursuit the spirit and freedom, the harmony of ideal and reality found a suit point here. Chuangzi points out that life-death are the natural process by the theory that life-death is definite and equal. Epicurus puts forward that the death is the atomic dispersion and the feeling disappearance, thus the death has nothing to do with all the living and the dead. The combination of Chuang zi’s rational spirit of thinking and Epicurus inspirational sensationalism could beyond the way of death. Both of their life-death value have theory value, also have a certain ambiguity. The comparison on their theories has a strong and modern value and guiding significance. The reflection result to Chuangzi’s moral life and Epicurus’ rational is the thinking to life religious concern valuable problem thinking. How to give a moral, rational, religious ultimate concern to life and to achieve virtue, reason and religious mystery life care complement, which can give some revelation of Chuangzi and Epicurus’life-death theory.
