The Typology Research Of Adjective Reduplication

Adjective reduplication widely exists in different languages, which is a phenomenon worth of studying.This dissertation is based on a discussion about adjective reduplication of the collected 139 languages by the theory and methods of typology, in order to get a better understanding of adjectives reduplication.Five parts that compose the thesis are as follows,Chapter one:firstly, it illustrates the scope of adjective reduplication.It introduces the present situation of the research from the research contents and research methods, then points out the existing problems and puts forward the purpose and meaning of he research. Finally, it introduces the research object and research method of this thesis, explaining the source of languages and related signals.Chapter two:it studies adjectives reduplication from typology perspective,and adjective reduplication is divided into four categories:complete reduplication, incomplete reduplication and affixed type of reduplication and composed reduplication. It analyzes various types of reduplication appeared in the different languages, and it sorts out all kinds of charts to intuitively display the type of reduplication.Chapter three:it introduces the existed research of adjective reduplication, and then analyzes the semantic of adjective reduplication from six aspects.The degree of adjective becomes stronger or weaker by reduplication, which is a common phenomenon. State is an essential part at the study of adjective reduplication. The significance of color is attached to the rational meaning, and the "tone" is not all decided by the type of adjectives reduplication.Chapter four:it simply introduces the phenomenon of adjective reduplication part of speech into adverbs, nouns, verbs, and some of them can express question.Chapter five:It summarizes the main point of the thesis, and indicates the limitation and the direction for further research.
