The Comprehensive Study On Zhang Wei’s Research

As one of the most important writers in China’s new era, Zhang Wei ‘s literary creation occupies the whole new era of Chinese literature, from his publication of short novel of Da Da Xi Fu in 1980 to the new work of Xun Zhao Yu Wang in 2015.Due to the enormous literary creation and specific controversy, Zhang Wei’s writings have constantly caused the attention from the critics. Up to now, research on Zhang Wei’s work has been nearly 40 years since 1980 s and experienced several distinct climaxes. In the 1980 s, under the context of New Enlightenment Language, critics about Zhang Wei’s writings mainly focused on the exploration of humanity connotation, narration of humanitarianism and reflection of Gu Chuan for social history. In 1990 s, the development of literature was heavily influenced by the marketization and popularization, therefore, the critics about Zhang Wei were guided by the development of multi-literature trends and the debates about the humanistic spirit under the background of cultural discussion. In this period, the research on Zhang Wei was mainly concentrated on the topics of reconsidering literature,literature on reform, seeking-roots literature and post seeking-roots and the discussion was prompted mainly from the perspectives of moral idealism, intellectual position and neo-conservatism. In addition, the critics about Zhang Wei in 1980 s not only focused on the rereading and rethinking of his previous writings, but also developed itself into the diversified trends on the research methodology. Zhang Wei has published several novels since the year of 2000 and the publication of ten-volume writings, Ni Zai Gao Yuan, has raised great concerns in the critical field. In this era,Zhang Wei’s new work has broken through the context of the humanism discussion of1990 s, showing more elements of rational reflection. During this period, Zhang Wei tries to use the western literature theories widely and profoundly, such as Ecologism,Theory of Psychoanalysis, Structuralism and Comparative Literature. In spite of some certain controversies, his writings have relatively shown the hardheaded and mature panorama.The research of Zhang Wei’s novels has been more steady and mature since the1980 s, however, there still are some problems in previous literature. The more mature the research is, the less development space there is. In order to promote the further development of research of Zhang Wei, it is necessary to find the fields which need deeper and more profound research on the base of the reviews and analysis of Zhang Wei’s work.
