| This reflection will analysis and research the piano sonata B flat minor no.2 op.36 by the 20’s last distinguished romanticism Russian composer Sergei Vassilievitch Rachmaninoff. The sonata’s first version completed in 1913. Although this piece caused a sensation and a good reputation from musicians when it done in the first version, Rachmaninoff thought this work’s structure is too verbose. After 18 years, he pruned and revised this piece. This revised version no.2 sonata include so much brilliant techniques, also contain abundant character and musical images. This is a outstanding piano solo piece, many pianists and audiences show special preference to this piece until now.The analysis and research for this sonata (1931 Version) include the background, structure and techniques of this piece.
