Shandong Yucheng Drum Yangko Character Study

Shandong province is the birthplace of Qilu culture, there are many different kinds of cultural forms and it has deep cultural roots. Shandong’s three kinds of yangko are very popular as one of the representatives of the Han nationality’s folk dance in China. The drum yangko of Lubei, the ocean yangko of Jiaobei and the jiaozhou yangko of Shandong peninsula are shining during many kinds of folk dances in Shandong province. The drum yangko of Lubei was widely known by people as a representative of the north man. When we mentioned the drum yangko, the first point we will think is the spectacular, energetic vigorous and full of masculinity’s beauty, bringing a great shock to people, these features are the overall style characteristics of Shandong drum yangko. The drum yangko is widespread in many places of Lubei, as the difference of customs,cultural origin and historical background of difference places, the drum yangko also has its unique style in each region. Now what we are familiar with is the drum yangko of Jiyang, Shanghe, Huimin and so on. Jiyang’s old adagio is robust and resilient, Shanghe’s clapper talk is active and strong, while Huimin’s drum yangko is influenced by both Jiyang and Shanghe, the fast is exchanging.The drum yangko of Yucheng is gradually disappeared in the public in recent years, due to the economic development and other various aspects, it has unknown to people all over the country. However, the Yucheng drum yangko has taken a place in Shandong drum yangko, it used to be very shining in the drum yangko family as its unique style of "Wu Fan".The formation of any kinds of dance style is the embodiment of the national people’s ideology in a region, it shows not only the dance moves, but also a complicated cultural phenomenon. It is also the reason that I try to study this folk art-Yucheng drum yangko and focus on the origin of its roles’style in my master thesis, and in turn, uncovering the correlation between the political, economic, artistic form and the cultural memory in the behind of Yucheng drum yangko’s role style. The research subject of this paper will mainly focus on the investigation of legends, social memory, folk custom activities, records of various kinds of literature, the interaction of local people’s discourse power and the survey of some old people’s memory to make investigation and research, and trying to get as much detail as possible of the role styles of Yucheng drum yangko and the cultural behind of the style.Yucheng drum yangko has a long history, due to the development of the society, the character of Yucheng drum yangko are facing be simplified, changed, and even the fate of failing to be handed down, so the character style study of Yucheng drum yangko is urgently. The Yucheng drum yangko’s character, which has such a characteristic and artistic value of the Han nationality folk dance, has a great deal of research space. And the character style of Yucheng drum yangko is lack of theoretical research, selecting Yucheng drum yangko’s character as the research object can make a systematic research in Yucheng drum yangko’s folklore and folk aesthetic, to fill in the blank of role theory,and studying the cultural behind the drum yangko’s role style.Yucheng drum yangko is the wisdom of yucheng people, yucheng drum yangko’s character is a great creation of yucheng people and the embodiment of body movement of the yucheng people’s cultural. This thesis will interpret and analysis Yucheng drum yangko’s cultural background and philosophical connotation from the humanism ecological environment of Yucheng drum yangko character, the specific analysis of each character and the style of the overall character embodied.
