Serious music, as a highbrow art, has been influenced by popular culture. At the same time, its own special properties, such as high professionalism and the high ticket prices, make many viewers have no way to enjoy the artistic achievements of serious music. In China, with rapid economic growth, the importance of the cultural construction gains more attention. In the process of protection of people’s cultural rights and the development of public culture, what we must firstly solve is the contradictions between the lack of public cultural products and services and the growing demand for public services. Non-profit popularity concert has become one of the effective ways to solve this contradiction. Shanghai is the first city to carry out non-profit popularity concert. In the support of the government, the theater has carried out group of public projects as a leading role. After years of attempts and efforts, it has achieved certain effects.This article will take the Lunch Time Concert of Shanghai Concert Hall for example. It will analyze the key elements during its operations management process.Firstly I will analyze the environment of the concert. The external environment includes the attitude and policies of the government and the overall development of Shanghai performing arts audience. The internal environment also consists of two parts. We will briefly introduce the Shanghai Concert Hall’s development process and brand positioning. Meanwhile, we will sort out all the public welfare projects of Shanghai Concert Hall to analyze the overall strategic layout. As we all know the Lunch Time Concert has been stable development for three years as a public welfare project, so it must have its merits. By introducing its profile, this article will analyze its features of operation process and discuss its problems encountered in the process.We hope that through the analysis of the Lunch Time Concert, this article can provide useful reference about operations management to other non-profit popularity programs.
