This thesis has focuses on the research on how Xiang Zu Hua’s dulcimer concerto "Lin Chong Flees In The Night" inspires the performance method of Mongolian dulcimer. The solo dulcimer piece was composed by the China’s famous dulcimer performer, music educationalist as well as composer, Xiang Zu Hua in year 1984. It had received by acclamation and won theArtistic Works Award of the Ministry of Culture in the year 1989.The author has obtained a deeper comprehension on the performance style, the interpretation and on how to control the performance techniques after practising and performing the piece. The author has been inspired in the research process and will be applying her understanding on the performance characteristics of the piece onto the performance techniques of the Mongolian dulcimer pieces. For instance, the Mongolian piece that the author has performed in the second Masters concert has taken references on the performance techniques of "Lin Chong Flees In The Night".This piece has positive effects on the development of contemporary dulcimer’s works creation. The author has read the relevant materials, put forward her understanding on the piece and the suggestions on the Mongolian dulcimer’s performance skills. She also compile her experiences that she concludes from the actual performance in able to illustrate the promoting role of the piece in Mongolian dulcimer’s performance techniques, as well as the innovation from the performance techniques and artistic conception.The thesis is divided into three chapters: Chapter One:The Biography of Composer and Analysis of the PieceChapter Two:"Lin Chong Flees In The Night" uses a lot of new dulcimer’s performance techniques, such as:Dual Tone Bamboo hammer, Inverted Bamboo, finger glide, shake slip and roll call techniques, glide and pick techniques, chromatic scales and arpeggios etc. The author deepens the understanding of the performance techniquesthrough the performance practice.Chapter Three:Through the research on the piece, and the comparison with the Mongolian dulcimer’s playing techniques, the author illustrates specifically on the inspiration and reference on the Mongolian dulcimer performance technique.
