Research On The Relationship Between Shibaoshan Folk Song Fair And Shizhongshan Grottoes

Each year the last three days of the lunar July at Jianchuan County, Yunnan, there is a folk fair, which local people called Shibaoshan Folk Song Fair. When it comes, there will be folk songs singing to each other, emotion and meaning’s expressing, Dachaoshan Buddha and Incense Burning and Praying, which are practiced by the people from around.Previous studies mainly emphasize on investigation and introduction of ethical endemic and folk song art, and put less value on the relationship between the Shibaoshan Folk Song Fair and Shizhongshan Grottoes. Depend on limited investigation, some article even over interpret folk fair as Bai’s Valentines etc.While we found in study that Jianchuan Shibaoshan folk song fair is a civil grand fair based on the Dachaoshan, which means it is a time for surrounding believer to pilgrimage to Buddhist images in the cave. Shibaoshan is folk formulation, its academic name is Shizhongshan, which belongs to Important Historical Monuments under Special Preservation.This thesis divided into three parts, first part is based on filed work and ethnographic writing,and also response to’illicit sex’ and ’Bai’s Valentines’such opinions by revealing the true color of folk song fair. Second part is a historical carding of Shizhongshan cave, in purpose to illustrate the Buddhist Believes of Nanzhao-Dali period is the foundation and causes of emergence of cave and folk song fair. Third part concentrate on the relationship between Shibaoshan Folk Song Fair and Shizhongshan Grottoes, then reveal the true colors of history and culture connotation of folk song fair. Finally come to conclusion that Shibaoshan Folk Song Fair is come of Buddhist worship to Shizhongshan Grottoes.
