In terms of the art and the design, with the influx and the permeation of the foreign thoughts, which has a huge shock on the traditional culture, our aesthetics and the values are constantly shaking. The persistent imitation and complacency have contributed to the stagnation of the development of the national characteristics, even deviating the tradition and the personality, resulting in the loss of the traditional features as well as the initiative to compete with the foreign works. Hence, we are faced with two difficulties. For one thing, we are required to handle with the relation between the traditional culture and the modern designs as well as offer a good match for the them. For another, we are supposed to deal well with the difference with the traditional culture and the modern culture, so that we can introduce more traditional cultural elements to the modern designs, giving full play to the essence of the traditional culture by means of combination with the diversified cultures in the world.In the first part, it is concerned with-the background, status quo, purpose and the significance. In the second part, it is the analysis and the conclusion of the concepts, development history, types, and aesthetic characteristics. In the third part, it is related to the significance and the impact of integrating the traditional patterns into the poster designs. In the fourth part, based on the personal practice, the practice of the application of the traditional patterns into the public benefit posters and the commercial posters are respectively illustrated. In this paper, adhering to the principle to inherit and carry forward the traditional patterns, it is essential to uphold the spirit to base the development to the world on the standing point of the China’s culture in the poster designs. We are required to get a better understanding of the traditional culture interns of its forms, implications and spirits on the basis on the existing recognition. Combination with the modern culture enables the creation and development of the poster art in the reality and the better development of the poster designs with the application of the traditional patterns with the western culture by taking advantage of the publicity and the duration of the poster designs.With great efforts of the researches on the traditional poster design and the modern ones, I held the point that based on the traditional culture, it is available to find a way that can fit the development of the national poster design to make the modern poster art be featured with the national characteristics and be on a par with the outstanding international works.It can be found that the China’s traditional patterns are profound and extensive in both art and the cultural research that are worth learning and studying. Thus, the designers can infuse new element to the traditional patterns by means of combining the traditional art and the modern art in the course of creation and the accomplishment of works. In addition, the designers are supposed to make a better match of the nationality and the international design styles with the aim to introduce our tradition to the world based on the shock of local culture and different cultures.
