Shostakovich is one of the greatest composers in the 20th century. He has written numerous works in his life, such as symphonies, string quartets, chamber music, piano solos, operas and concertos and so on, and Piano Concerto No.1 in C Minor occupies an important status. This concerto was written in 1933 when Shostakovich was 27 years old and it was also a master work of piano works. This concerto is very unique in musical instrument compilation and only a trumpet is used to coordinate the piano besides string music, so it is also called "the concerto of piano, trumpet and strong music". Though there are numerous research literatures on this piece of work, there are very few literatures on the instrumental ensemble of No.1, No.2 Piano and trumpet as well as playing skills of piano.This paper is divided into 4 chapters to explain Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.1 in C Minor. Chapter 1 is introduction in which relative music literature and acoustics materials are collected in great quantities to understand this concerto better. Chapter 2 describes the composer of this concerto, the creation background and style of this concerto in order to grasp this work deeper. Chapter 3 is musical form analysis of the four chapters of this concerto and it explains the coordination between No.1, No.2 Piano and trumpet in detail. Chapter 4 introduces technological difficulties in playing this concerto, such as touch key, octave, chord, footboard and so on. The author intends to grasp the style and music language of this concerto better by analyzing and explaining the playing characteristics of Piano Concerto No.1 in C Minor. Besides, she wants to summarize a set of performance methods based on analysis of the work and her own performance experiences.
