Chinese traditional opera art, the most distinctive art form with Chinese national features, is not susceptible to the influence of foreign culture. The facial makeup, clothing, colors, accessories etc. show the most traditional and national aesthetic concept of Chinese culture. Many works of art containing opera elements come into being, such as Yangliuqiu new-year pictures of tianjin, Yangjiabu new-year pictures of Weifang and Taohuawu new-year pictures of Suzhou. The reference and imitation can be seen from the content, characters, colors ect. Opera art is a wonderful work in Chinese traditional culture and art, in which the exaggerated character modeling, the color of decorative features, the symmetry and varying clothing form and good-versus-evil facial makeup all provide good reference materials for painting and lay an excellent aesthetic base for Chinese oil painting. The author uses Chinese traditional opera art elements to show the aesthetic conception of Chinese culture, to convey the aesthetic emotion and to carry forward the national art. Clothing and colors of the opera art are taken as creation elements to create oil paintings with contemporary visual structure in which not only the unique visual form of opera art is reserved but also the contemporary visual structure is presented by a flat structure image. The oil painting is medium of emotional expression, by which works with traditional opera form are expressed. The oil painting has various expression forms and styles. Incorporating the opera art into contemporary oil painting is the most right way for Chinese oil painting. Only combining closely with Chinese national arts, absorbing the essence of national arts, contemporary arts and western oil painting can this foreign painting develop healthily in China.
