The Impact Of ’Art Changsha’ On Moden Art Environment In Hunan (2007-now)

As the art biennale development has a very important impact on the art of a regional ecological area. In the beginning of the new century, due to the economic development and global vision some developed areas’ art biennale owns a rapid development. Which turn those developed areas becomes the art center. Hunan has profound cultural connotation, but its economic growth is slow. And also, it lacks an influential art biennale.As a regional art activity in Hunan Art Circle.’Art Changsha’ founded by Tan Guobin after he has referenced to the international convention and major international art biennale art activities, he tend to provide a platform to support Hunan’s art development, and a channel could horizontal communicate with international Art Circle. In the history of Hunan’s contemporary art progress,’Art Changsha’ is the first art activity that has large-scale and keeping operating in Hunan. As result,. it turns a very significant effect on development of Hunan’s contemporary art ecology. This paper explained art biennale in Changsha, and discussed in its effects on the art’secology in Hunan provinces. Thus, through the discussion of art biennale’s development status of Changsha, then, presented the interaction between art activity and art’s ecology.This paper briefly reviewed the biennale’s history and status both China and abroad, and adopts interview from the local artists in Hunan and the originator of ’Art Changsha’as basis to study the occurrence and development process during nine years in Hunan, and how it make impact on local contemporary art ecology,as well as making consideration about the sustainable development of its disadvantage.The conclusion for this paper essay is that although the Hunan’s’Art Changsha’ has stimulated the diversification of contemporary art ecology, and it has played an important role for promoting contemporary art in public. Also, it has provided a platform for artists to exchange and development. However, due to the system limitation and the shortage of its structure, those lead to it only stay the art activity status. There is a crucial way to change this status is establishing a perfect system of curator, increasing young generation artists’ support programs, having positive cooperation with the government, and seeking a more stable source of funding. Thus, that way could provide sustainable motivation for Hunan contemporary art ecology development, and turning it to a real biennale from an art activity essentially.
