Revolutionary Theme TV series has always been the most active type of creation domain. On one hand it represents the mainstream of ideological orientation which has long been strongly advocated and focused by the nation, on the other hand its creation fully absorbs the successful creative experience of revolutionary historical novels and films. Once Coming out, it quickly wins the favor of the audience and is popular in the screen over the years. Nevertheless, we must clearly recognize that entertainment consumption gradually occupies an important position in people’s social life under the impacts of market economy. Faced with the current reality that general public’s cultural consumption patterns are diversified and TV operation rate gradually declines, the production of Revolutionary Historical Theme TV series in new consumer environment is facing predicament of inadequate transmission capacity and poor spreading effect. How to break the dilemma and attract audiences? This paper argues that in order to consolidate the ratings market, improve competitiveness and achieve sustainable development, the creation of the Revolutionary Historical Themes TV should respects the market and takes commercial operation modes under the premise of sticking to the core of mainstream values.
