Research On The Temple Applications Of Chaozhou Embroidery

Chaozhou Embroidery, one important branch of Yue Embroidery, is one of the four famous embroideries in China. Chaozhou Embroidery has more obvious personality style than other embroideries, and the unique three-dimensional gold satin brocade method makes Chaozhou Embroidery present a resplendent and magnificent outlook. Moreover, the application of Chaoshan temple embroidery plays an enormous role in the formation and development of the style of Chaozhou Embroidery.From the standpoints of Chaoshan area’s advantageous geographic location and historical changes, this paper analyzes the Chaoshan culture of different styles. Due to the densely-populated natural state of Chaoshan area, many people live on manual skills. So, handicrafts, such as woodcarving, stone carving and embroidery, develop prosperously at the local area. Since Chaoshan people living on sea have the devout complex of gods and buddha worship, temples become the places of their faith. Therefore, people decorate the temples with their finest handicrafts and thereby commit their supplication of spirit to gods. All the things presented in the temples must be the most devout and excellent productions.According to the visiting and investigational study, we analyze the application category of the Chaozhou Embroidery decoration products in temples, and focus on the technical features of Chaozhou Embroidery in temples. Moreover, we carry out careful analyses for the typical skills of Chaozhou Embroidery and summarize the laws, which make practical sense to the inheritance and development of Chaozhou Embroidery.Finally, by analyzing a variety of phenomena of modern Chaozhou Embroidery products, we find out some problems existing in the modern Chaozhou Embroidery artwares and propose some thought and suggestions about the developing prospect of the Chaozhou Embroidery. This paper elaborately and systematically carries out professional analysis on the Chaozhou Embroidery, and proposes some constructive suggestions. We hope that this work is the inherence and disseminate of Chaozhou Embroidery, and make a contribution to the development of Chaozhou Embroidery. Meanwhile, we wish that our work could promote the essence of culture of craftsmanship in China and call the real return of the spirit of the craftsman.
