The Protection And Inheritance Of The Clothing Embroidery Of The Lian Nan Yao Ethnic Group

Choosing NianNan Yao nationality autonomous county in Guangdong provinceas the survey site, in this article, we elaborate in detail the history, the culturalconnotation and the inheritance situation of the clothing embroidery of Yao nationalityin Lianna. By analyzing the obstacles in the process of the embroidery inheritance, wealso raise some suggestions for the protection and development of the embroidery inLiannan.As one of the Chinese minorities with long history, the Yao nationality hasdeveloped its unique national culture. Nowadays, most of the Yao gather in134citiesand counties in the southern part of china, such as Guangxi, Hunan, GuangdongYunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, of which Guangdong and Guangxi play an important role.Over80thousand people of the "ba pai yao" and the "guo shan yao" live in theNianNan Yao nationality autonomous county in Guangdong province. LianNan isconsidered as the largest and best preserved living land of "pai yao" in the world.According to the ancient books, coming from the area of Dongting Lake and Douzhouin Hunan, the "Ba Pai Yao" settled down in LianNan during de Sui Dynasty and MingDynasty. After1000years development of arduous work, the Yao has created varietiesof national culture, of which the custom, clothes, songs and dances are colorful andgraceful.The clothing embroidery of Yao nationality in Liannan is considered as the Yao’scultural characteristic. In the past, the researches on Yao’s embroidery were limited inthe area of the custom of embroidery, the explanation of totem and the design of art, itwas rare to find the research of the situation and preservation of Yao’s embroidery.Lacking of its own characters, the Yao nationality inherits her unique culture bylanguage, custom and clothes. A good succession of the embroidery of Yao plays animportant part of the inheritance of the culture of Yao nationality. By applying the anthropology and the ethnology, In this article, we have deeplyinvestigated and analyzed the inherit activities of the Yao’s embroidery.This article includes four chapters:Chapter One: introduction of the Yao Nationality, including its origin, thedistribution of the population, the religion and the situation of NianNan Yaonationality autonomous countyChapter Two: elaboration of the historical development, classification,acupuncture therapy and cultural connotation of the clothing embroidery of Yaonationality.Chapter Three: base on the research material of the survey, the author presentsclearly the inheritance situation of the Yao’s embroidery in Liannan, such as theinheritance mode, the cultural consciousness and the work of government etc. andanalyses the natural and cultural factors influencing the inheritance of Yao’sembroidery.Chapter Four: discussion of the inheritance preservation of the Yao’s embroideryin Liannan. By analyzing deeply the characteristics of Yao’s embroidery in Liannan,which is considered as non material cultural heritage, raise some suggestions for theinheritance preservation and the development of Yao’s embroidery in Liannan.
