With the social phenomena of aging population increasing, fertility rates declining and the second-child fully liberalization becomes more and more emergence, the population issue has became a hot topic in our current society. Especially the older unmarried people, not only it’s base number but also it’s proportion is increasing, and it’s first marriage is also growing, which attracted the attention and eager to discuss in the whole society. But it must be addressed as a social problem has become a phenomenon unique to China. In the context, older unmarried issues have also been more and more attention from researchers. In clinical practice, the researchers found that the level of self-differentiation of the older unmarried youth seems low, and the visitors who come to seek advices have a sense of security is very low, so investigators expect to use psychology research methods and techniques to study the relationship between the psychological security, self-differentiation and its spouse-selection in the older-unmarried youth, hoping to provide some valuable theoretical reference and practical advice for the desire to married for the older unmarried youth.In the study, combining with questionnaire and interview research method to revise self-differentiation scale, security scale and Mate tendency Scale,which suitable for older-unmarried youth.257 older-unmarried youth who never had any marital history in Shanghai were invited to attend the survey research, in order to explore the level of self-differentiation, security, Mate tendency and the relationship among them in older unmarried youth. At the same time,4 respondents were invited to take part in interviewed study, which analysis the interview data in coded mode based on the grounded theory.The purpose of the research is to exam a series of vivid and coherent psychological processes and psychological changes during the individual’s spouse selection.The following are main conclusions:1. The level of self-differentiation and some of it’s factorersr have a significant differences at gender and the level of education, but have not a significant differences at age in the older-unmarried youth;2. The sense of security in older-unmarried youth have a significant differences at gender, age and the level of education;3. The mate preferences of older-unmarried youth have a significant differences at gender, age and the level of education;4. There is a significant correlation between the level of self-differentiation and sense of security in older-unmarried youth;5. Security acts a mediating effection between self-differentiation and mate preferences in older-unmarried youth, and furdermore, the sense of determine- control also acts a mediating effection among emotional blocking and appearance, interpersonal fusion and social resources respectively.
