This is a translation project about children literature. According to the requirements of the thesis, the author selected Burly and Grum Tale, written by an English writer Kate Tenbeth.Considering the special features of children literature in content and forms, as well as the acceptance of children audience, the author of the paper translates the work under the guidance of Skopos theory. In the translation report the author makes an analysis of the difficulties and illustrates the translation strategies adopted in the translation on practice. Besides, the author makes use of the translation techniques such as the reduplication, mimetic words, idioms, simple sentences, personification, hyperbole and simile to meet the needs of children audience, and makes the target language more fascinating. In order to improve the quality of the target language, the author resorts to mainly three phases:understanding correctly, translating expressively and proofreading seriously, during which the author learns considerably much by summarizing crucial points and difficult parts. It is the first time for the author to translate children literature, and she benefits a lot from it. In a word, it is a good opportunity for the author to improve herself. The author hopes that the translation ability will be improved in the further study.
