In this paper, on the basis of Mexico’s native culture and traditional culture background, Frida’s magic realism paintings have been analyzed by learning the magiclism of Frida’s art. Frida is one of the most famous painter in Latin America in the last century, whose creative inspiration comes from her own experience and the expression of feelings. From her first time to draw to the last moment in her life, Frida had been expressing her emotional experience of a lifetime. The elements of emotions, limbs, car accidents and miscarriage appeared frequently in her paintings, and she incorporated these elements into paintings which were shown to the world. Among her existing over 150 works, nearly one third of them are her self-portraits. Focusing on the research of her self-portraits and taking the thematic research of painting as the starting point, this article mainly discusses Freda‘s artistic experience and the external evaluation of her and makes a systematic study of types and manifestations of Frida’s magic realism theme. Taking Mexican traditional culture as her creation faith, Frida was obsessed with the expression of feminine subject and description of rebirth and death, and she used various kinds of painting technique and unique subjective arrangement to express her emotional and artistic pursuit. At last but not least, by researching on Frida’s artistic creation, this paper has summarized the artistic spirit and its value expressed in Frida’s magic realism theme.
