Kang Youweiin The 1917 Restoration

The Qing Dynasty had been destroyed in 1911, at the same time, Kang Youwei’s political stand is changed from constitutional monarchy to "republic with powerless emperor", and involved into the "restore event in 1917". This is the last time to take part in a political event by Kang Youwei, and a important experiment of "republic with powerless emperor". Kang Youwei and Zhang Xun had been described as saints by the people at that time, it seems that Kang Youwei is a powerful participant in the event.But when we detailed retrieval the historical records, there are still some doubts should be disentangled. How much had Kang Youwei been involved in the "restore event"? What’s the effects to his relationship with others and evaluation to him? This paper will try to answer the questions above.
