This paper is a translation report. The source text is selected from a teen novel, Greenglass House, which was written by young American female writer, Kate Milford.This translation practice is finished under the instruction of Functional Equivalence Theory, with the purpose of getting a target text that can be easily understood by teen readers and also be close to the source text in terms of the language style. The target text should give the target readers similar feelings and reactions as the source text readers gained from the source text. After analyzing the difficulties under the guidance of Functional Equivalence, the author uses translation strategies such as Reinventing Sentence Structure, Turning Phrases into Clauses and Following the Original Syntactic Order to solve syntactic difficulties, in order to get a target text that is conform to Chinese ways of expression; besides, to solve semantic difficulties and reach the equivalence on information and styles to the greatest extent, the author uses translation strategies such as Semantic Extension, Semantic Explication and Semantic Adaptation.Functional Equivalence Theory functions to guide the process of translating. The searching results of the translation practice are:in translating teen novels, translators should survey the intelligibility of the target text in the perspective of teenagers; information should be in preference to formal equivalence; the context should be the main factor influencing the translating of words or phrases, rather than the dictionary.At last, the author hopes that there can be something referential for teen novels’ translation in this report.
