Modern Chinese oil painting is arriving at a comprehensive and edge state,and painters are working hard for locating their own cultural ID and local value. After 1990 s, modern Chinese oil painting’s composition having relation with picture and picture culture has become the trend.In composition, some painters wants to put picture as means to get materials. Some others learn from picture and entitle it with new art image. As a kind of resource, picture provides wider accordance and art ground.the learning and transferring of picture has become more and more popular, and formed quite big scale. Up to mid-1990 s, a popular phenomenon about vague and black-white art language appeared. Some artists employed such art language and gained apparently. In this situation, it is quite necessary to explore the start point of picture-drawing and vague art.Picture-drawing is the oil painting style initiated by still-alive Gerhard Richter in 1960 s in them. His picture-drawing art has strong effect on the global scale. Due to difference of era, modern Chinese artists’ use of his picture-drawing is viewed as copy and imitation, i.e.“Richter phenomenon”. This phenomenon has traits in modern Chinese oil painting, and this phenomenon’s existence and development has quite big effect on modern oil-painting’s composition in China.“Richter phenomenon” will be illustrated and judged.Firstly,the situation and development of modern oil painting will be explained.85 art movement is the dividing point of modern Chinese art.After this, western art thought has been introduced into China wholly.And, as the development of science-technology and consumer culture, picture resource being more and more rich, modern Chinese oil painting’s composition bonds tighter with pictures.Secondly, Richter phenomenon will be explored,and the belief and methods of Richter picture-drawing will be recognized deeply. The situation of modern will be analyzed in the respective of views and practice, with art background in modern China.Last but not least, several artists will be chosen as the example to analyze the drawing thought and the compositions. will be illustrated, to learn the essence of this master in art. It has important significance in the innovation and development of modern Chinese oil painting’s composition.
