Language bonds with culture inseparably. As one of the three elements of language, vocabulary has rich and colorful cultural connotations. China has a long history and Chinese vocabulary has rich cultural meanings. Among them, Animal words, as a special group of Chinese vocabulary, with their vivid expression, often appears in our daily life, being used as metaphors to describe a person, an object and a conception. At the same time, the cultural meanings in this group of vocabulary are the reflection of Chinese psychology and their way of thinking. In TCSL, animal words are not only the key part but the weak part for the foreign students. It often causes bias due to misunderstandings or negative cultural transfer. As a result, this article explores the connotations and discusses its teaching in TCSL. In the article, the writer chooses three typical animals:horse, bull and dog, explains their Chinese cultural meanings, and then moves to the discussion on its teaching in TCSL. On one hand, this article will enrich the researches on the connotations of Chinese animal words, on the other hand, it will provide some appropriate methods in Chinese animal vocabulary teaching, and in this way will help foreign students to acquire the methods of animal words acquisition efficiently. |
