Nowadays, with the development of China, status of China and Chinese languagebecome the spot of the whole world. More and more countries start to realize theimportance of Chinese language. Many famous universities abroad open Chineselanguage classes and on account of that a new branch of subject------TeachingChinese as a Second Language----appears. After a while, it is refined into several smallsections, lexicology is one of them, among which color words are an important part.This paper, from the angle of cross-culture communication, compares Chineselanguage and German language, aiming to propose directive advice for cross-culturecommunication. In the first chapter is the introduction of this paper. The secondchapter introduces eight color words in Chinese and German languages—red, blue,green, yellow, black, white, purple and gray of their symbolic meanings usingreal-world examples. The third chapter compares the Chinese language and Germanlanguage in aspect of their political meanings and associative meanings and culturalmeanings. In the last chapter, it introduces the meaning of comparing these twolanguages and its enlightening significance for cross-culture communication. At last itis the conclusion...
