“V+(yi)ge+Adj.” Construction:An Construction Grammar Approach

“V +(yi)ge + Adj.” structure is a subject on which linguistic researchers have been doing much study. There are unsolved questions along with many fruits they’ve got. This paper aims at the unresolved questions left by the former scholars and tries to restudy the structure “V +(yi)ge + Adj.” in the perspective of construction grammar, define this structure as a construction and research on its semantic features, functions and cause and cognitive foundation according to this theory. There are three parts in this article: the introduction, the body and the conclusion.The introduction mainly describes the object of study, the significance of the topic and the research methods, and the main object of study is strictly defined. The body part includes Chapter Ⅱ to Chapter V:In Chapter Ⅱ, we clarify the concept of Construction in this paper on the basis of various of definitions from different schools, raise the definition standard of Construction and prove the structure “V +(yi)ge + Adj.” a Construction by the standard. The research on the features of this Construction is also involved in this chapter. Chapter Ⅲ focuses on the inner-structure of “V +(yi)ge + Adj.”. The emphasis is put on the features of constituents of this Construction and special performance of “(yi)ge”. We also do a research on the differences between this Construction and similar structure “Na jiao yi ge X”. Chapter IV focuses on the outer-structure functions of “V +(yi)ge + Adj.” and research its function of syntax, semantics and pragmatics which represent its characteristics. Chapter V concerns on the cause and cognitive foundation of this construction. The formation of construction is closely related with the theories of focus and prominence. It is also related with the metaphorical and metonymic mechanism and the interaction of metaphor and metonymy. The last chapter is the conclusion part, which summarized and mentioned when it comes to the shortcomings of the innovation of this article.
