At present, teaching Chinese as a second language has developed vigorously in South Korea and Thailand. For reasons such as the support of government, the amount of qualified teachers and the characteristics of students, the teaching patterns are different in the high school Chinese courses: South Korea is co-teaching pattern, whereas Thailand is the native teacher independently teaching pattern. The most distinguishing characteristic of co-teaching pattern in South Korea is “two teachers and two languages”, which means the native Chinese teacher and the Korean Chinese teacher teach together in the Chinese courses. This teaching pattern has three types: the Korean Chinese teacher dominated type, the native Chinese teacher dominated type and the two teachers dominated by turn type. These three kinds of co-teaching pattern types were used in the Chinese courses in Changwon Minggil Girls’ High School, and first-hand cases were given on the basis of this experience. According to the cases, it is easy to know that two teachers dominated by turn is the ideal type. Because by this type, the native Chinese teacher and Korean Chinese teacher can show their advantages and learn from each other. As a consequence, the teaching effect will more than 1+1. However, when two teachers cannot get along, it will result in a waste of resources, contrary to the original intention of co-teaching.The native teacher independently teaching pattern in Thailand’s Chinese high school Chinese courses is relatively traditional. In most schools, the native Chinese teacher takes charge of all the Chinese related work, for instance, Hadsamran Secondary School in Trang, Thailand. This makes the native Chinese teachers have the absolute right in all aspects of Chinese courses, such as teaching arrangement, teaching implementation and teaching evaluation, so that the continuity, integrity and consistency of Chinese courses can be guaranteed, to some degree. However, if the native Chinese teachers teaching qualifications are insufficient and cannot speak Thai language, the Chinese teaching will be struggling to develop. In general, based on the comparison between the two kinds of teaching patterns, if the native Chinese teacher has enough teaching qualifications and can speak the foreign language in where the teacher teach, the native Chinese teacher independently teaching pattern is better than the co-teaching pattern. If conversely, the co-teaching pattern is more effective. However, as mentioned above, two kinds of teaching patterns both have advantages and disadvantages, so the most practical suggestion is to complement each other.
