Idiom is a special kind of fixed structure in modern Chinese. Although the form of the idiom is always short and simple, but it has an irreplaceable function and meaning in the semantics, emotional and cultural connotations, etc. It is a very important fixed structure in our daily life, especially in oral communication. As the color has obvious cultural differences between different linguistic and social background, so the idioms containing color words are more special than normal idioms, and also given more deep cultural meaning when we use them.Based on the previous study, this essay is going to talk about the study of idioms containing color words, such as red, white, black, yellow, green, blue, and purple. All idioms we collected from four different modern Chinese dictionaries help us to do further study in many aspects, such as structure, semantic features and cultural connotation. We all know that the language theoretical research has to serve the teaching practice, so this article also includes analysis from the perspective of teaching Chinese to foreigners. This report provides some different strategies and principles for learning this kind of idiom, based on the characteristic of the idiom containing color, which can help learners to better understand and accurately apply these sayings.This report has five chapters.Chapter one is introduction. This chapter introduces the background and significance, research methods and focus of this study, the difficulty and innovation of this research, and focus on the study of the circumstances of the color words and Sayings summarizes general and review.Chapter two is the type and structure of the perspective contained Color Words Sayings analysis. This chapter firstly introduces the contents of this paper, the source and the establishment of corpus. Based on the number of color words in the idioms, the sayings syllable number and color words in sayings position, this report also analyzed the different types of containing color words Sayings. We also do the analyses in the aspects such as the structure and grammatical functions of the color words in these kind idioms.The third chapter is semantic and cultural perspective of words containing sayings color analysis. This chapter analyzed the emotional appraise, the semantic point and culture meaning of these kind of idioms including seven different color.The fourth chapter is the analyses based on teaching Chinese to foreigners. This chapter is mainly based on the needs of foreign teaching Chinese, especially the importance of vocabulary teaching. By counting the frequency containing sayings color words in modern Chinese Peking corpus, this report try to build vocabulary teaching collection. Based on the content, difficulty and semantic transparency of the idioms containing color words, this report is trying to build a suitable collection about the idioms for Chinese learners. Finally, for the particularity of containing the color words and sayings, we should pay attention to cultural connation, highlighting the contrast and analogy teaching in different cultural backgrounds and progressive, when teaching Chinese to foreigners.Chapter five is conclusion. This chapter is a comprehensive review of the study, and statements of the disadvantage in this study.
